Full-stack engineer

Softwareengineeredwith clarity.

I design and build reliable web applications, internal platforms and digital products.

  • Alex Vereš
  • Building production software since 2022
  • Based in Košice, Slovakia
  • Web, backend & AI systems

Most of my work is a web applicationwith something complicated behind it:an API, a data pipeline, an AI workflow.Sometimes a mobile app too.

Selected work

A few things I've built, and what went into them.

Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Slovakia

Accessible communication platform

A communication platform for distributing information to blind and visually impaired people across Slovakia. I led a team of five, and we built and deployed it on the client's own infrastructure.

  • A React Native app that works on iOS, Android and assistive devices like BlindShell and Corvus
  • A Next.js admin panel where staff compose and schedule messages
  • A NestJS REST API on Prisma and PostgreSQL, documented in Swagger
  • WCAG 2.1 AA, verified with real screen readers and narrators

NestJS · Next.js · React Native · Prisma · PostgreSQL · Docker

unss.sk

Remote server monitoring & management

IISLabGuardian

A system for monitoring and managing Linux and Windows servers. I built the agent that collects the data, the API that serves it, and the dashboards administrators work in.

  • A Node.js agent collecting system metrics and disk health, streaming to Elasticsearch
  • A NestJS backend with a GraphQL API, PostgreSQL and Supabase
  • Next.js dashboards with remote control tools and performance charts
  • Live updates over WebSocket

NestJS · GraphQL · PostgreSQL · Next.js · Elasticsearch · Node.js

IBM

AI systems at IBM

Internal AI products. The main one pulls data from several internal services and turns it into reports and drafted emails. I worked on the pipeline, the agents and the interface.

  • Built agentic workflows on watsonx orchestrate, watsonx.ai and LangChain
  • Wired multiple internal services into one reporting pipeline through custom API endpoints
  • Worked on the AI chatbot assistant on ibm.com
  • Before that, led the front end on two apps for AI data compliance and privacy

TypeScript · Next.js · Python · LangChain · watsonx · Docker

Also shipped

  • Commercial product site

    MakeYourPod

A site for a custom pod manufacturer, with a configurator that updates the price as you change the spec. It emails the order and generates a PDF invoice.

    Next.js · TypeScript · Tailwind · Vercel

    makeyourpod.com

  • Full-stack web application

    Rootie

A Next.js app on a GraphQL backend, heavy on forms and validation. I built a component library alongside it so the design stays consistent as the product grows.

    Next.js · Apollo · GraphQL · Prisma · PostgreSQL

    rootie.eu

  • Performance rescue

    Samtek

An Angular site that took about thirty seconds to load. I reworked how it fetched and handled data, refactored the legacy code around it, and got it under one.

Angular · TypeScript · REST API

    samtek.sk

What I do

Web development is the core. The rest tends to come up on the same projects.

  • Web application development

Production web apps in React and Next.js, from Figma files through to something running and maintained.

  • Backend, APIs & integrations

Node.js and NestJS services, REST and GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and connecting them to the systems you already run.

  • AI-enabled features

RAG pipelines, LLM integrations and agentic workflows built into working products.

  • Mobile apps

React Native for iOS and Android, including assistive devices like BlindShell and Corvus.

  • Accessibility engineering

WCAG 2.1 AA audits and remediation, tested with real screen readers.

  • Performance & modernization

Profiling and refactoring codebases that have become slow or hard to change.

  • Technical consulting & architecture

Architecture review and technical guidance for teams that want a second opinion.

  • MVP & prototyping

Quick prototypes and MVPs for testing an idea before committing to a full build.

How I work

  1. 01

    A call first

Half an hour to understand the problem. No pitch, no obligation.

  2. 02

    Scope in writing

What I'll build and by when, agreed in writing before any work starts.

  3. 03

Something to look at every week

You see working software each week, so nothing is a surprise at the end.

  4. 04

    A clean handover

Documentation, deployment and handover, so you're not dependent on me afterwards.

About

I'm Alex Vereš, a full-stack engineer in Košice, Slovakia. I've spent the last few years at IBM building internal platforms and AI systems — agentic workflows, reporting pipelines, and tooling for data compliance and privacy.

Alongside that I build for clients: mostly web applications, plus the backend, mobile and AI pieces they connect to. I've led a five-person team that put an accessibility platform into production, and cut a client's Angular app from about thirty seconds of load time to under one.

The parts I find most interesting are usually accessibility and performance — getting an interface to work properly with a screen reader, or getting a slow page to load quickly.
